ABOUT

The Niagara Construction Association (NCA) is a non-profit organization established to represent the interests of the commercial and industrial construction industry. Members are General and Trade Contractors, Manufacturers, Suppliers, Architects, Engineers and other professionals affiliated with the industry.

NCA was first known as the St. Catharines and District Builders Exchange, with a mandate to protect the interests of those in and associated with the local construction industry. Although the Association's field of operation has broadened with the years, its mandate is clearly as strong as ever. The offices relocated in the 1960's to the current location of 34 Scott Street proudly built with the donated products and services of the members. In 1961, to recognize the growing regional focus of the exchange, the name changed to the Niagara Peninsula Builders Exchange. By 1968, when suppliers, architects, engineers, consultants, lawyers and insurance representatives began to join as associate members, the greater diversity of the membership promoted a name change to the Niagara Construction Association (NCA).

As a member of the NCA, members automatically receive membership with Canadian Construction Association (CCA) and Council of Ontario Construction Associations (COCA).

CCA provides us with national representation and lobbying on ongoing issues affecting the construction industry. CCA gives voice to the public policy, legal and standards development goals of contractors, suppliers and allied business professionals working in, or with, Canada’s non-residential construction industry. Please read about CCA's accomplishments in advocacy, best practices and member engagement and much more in the CCA Annual Review Click here.

COCA provides provincial representation and lobbying; bringing the concerns of members to the attention of Queen's Park. They are committed to working with the government to ensure that Ontario's legislative landscape is one where our industry can grow and prosper. Please see COCA's Annual Year in Review that highlights their accomplishments and 2018 priorities Click here.

Items of concern to members are addressed in several levels including lobbying Local, Provincial and governments. The major focus of the NCA is keeping on top of such issues and at all times represent the interests of their members. Working closely with the Infrastructure Health and Safety Association, WSIB and the Ministry of Labour, the NCA actively promotes industry safety. Numerous Safety Courses, Programs, Seminars and Workshops are held at the NCA training facility.

With ongoing Educational Seminars and Scholarship Awards, the Association partners with Niagara College in a Construction Engineering Technology program. Resumes and Educational Program information placed on the bulletin board to assist and encourage young adults branching into the construction industry.

Benefits and services are plentiful for members. The plans room is spacious for viewing documents, plans, or simply working in a peaceful setting. The dissemination of the bidder's list and addenda are available through faxing or electronic means. The copying facilities on premise are not only convenient but offered to members at preferential rates. The General Manager, Administrative Assistant and the Plans Room Assistant are Commissioners for Taking Affidavits.

Socially, an annual Golf Tournament and dinner, Women in Construction events, Safety Awareness Day & Trade Show,  Membership Appreciation Day BBQ and Member Showcase, Christmas Food Drive Luncheon for Community Care create great networking opportunities and a chance to mingle with friends.

The Niagara Construction Association will continue to address construction issues and concerns of the membership while striving to offer excellence in services and convenience.
